Microblading Aftercare

Aftercare is essential for achieving the best healing and long-lasting results from your microblading treatment. Proper post-treatment care helps protect the freshly microbladed area, supports optimal color retention, and reduces the risk of infection or irritation. By following these guidelines, you’ll ensure a smoother healing process, helping your new brows maintain their shape and color as they settle. Adhering to these instructions will help preserve the beauty and longevity of your microbladed eyebrows.

Instructions for Optimal Healing and Color Retention

To ensure the best healing results and long-lasting color retention from your microblading treatment, it’s crucial to follow these aftercare instructions:

  • Keep Hands Clean: Avoid touching your brows; wash hands for 30 seconds before applying ointment.
  • Keep Area Dry: Shield brows from moisture. Avoid pools, sweating, and direct water contact. Use a paper towel to pat dry after showers.
  • Prevent Contamination: Keep the area free from sweat, animals, direct shower spray, and other germs.
  • Protect from Sun: Shield brows from sun exposure with a hat or visor; avoid tanning beds.
  • No Makeup or Lotions: Avoid makeup, lotions, or exfoliants near brows to ensure proper healing.
  • Sleep Carefully: Try not to let brows touch your pillow while sleeping.

Healing Process

Keeping your eyebrows dry during the healing process is key. Apply ointment such as A&D, Aquaphor, or Hustle Butter as follows:

  • For New Clients: Apply ointment twice daily. Use a thick layer of ointment before showering and a thin layer at another time of the day. If you shower more than once daily, apply a thick layer each time before showering, then skip the thin layer for the rest of the day.
  • For Touch-Up Clients: Apply ointment only once daily, prior to showering. Remember, do not splash water on your face to clean it. After showering, gently dab off the ointment. For new clients, apply a second thin layer later in the day. Touch-up clients should not apply a second layer. Continue this routine for the first 7-10 days post-treatment.

What to Expect During the Healing Process

The treated area may feel dry and chapped. Do not touch the area except with the recommended ointment or cotton swabs. Avoid picking at any flaking skin, as this is a normal part of the healing process. Some clients experience a loss of 20-40% of the initial implanted color, which may initially appear lighter. Typically, more color will emerge within 3-4 weeks.
